The 14th edition of the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017 drew its curtain last Saturday, March 25th, 2017. The Asia Pacific’s premier maritime and aerospace industry exhibition held from 21st – 25th March 2017 at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) saw over 200,000 visitors, both from the military, official civil delegates and visitors from all over the world.
Since its debut in 1991, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) has provided the maritime and aerospace industry with a unique platform for networking and business opportunities, functioning as a gateway to Asia Pacific’s dynamic markets.
The exhibition saw a total of 555 exhibitors from 36 countries, and a staggering estimated value of RM3.7bil worth of contracts and agreements signed in the short span of five days. There were a variety of other programs and activities organized during the exhibition such as the LIMA Fest, LIMA Career Fair and LIMA Concert aimed to engage and create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors from all walks of life, races and religion.
Some of the main highlight of the exhibition was the Indonesian and Korean national aerobatic teams performing astonishing aerial feats and manoeuvres, 55 naval warships and vessels, marching band performances by the Philippines and Sri Lanka Navies, an RMN Marching Band Drumline, a uniform exhibition, a silent drill performance and an exhibition by the RMN Special Force (Paskal).
The event was a big success and was a bold statement to the world that Malaysia is capable of organizing a top world-class event, generating a huge number of business opportunities and engagements even in the midst of the global economic uncertainty.
