JAKARTA: The Malaysians who came to Jakarta to watch a concert, only to be reported missing on March 30, have been found in a police lock-up here.

Mohamad Safa Ahmad, 29, and Kamarol Arifin Mohamad Darus, 27, were arrested by Indonesian authorities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on March 30 after police found several pills, believed to be synthetic drugs on them.

A Malaysian businessman here, Datuk Dr Fauzi Mohamad told Bernama that he was trying to engage a lawyer for the two best friends from Kampung Sijangkang, Teluk Panglima Garang, Selangor.

“I was told that they were found to be carrying drugs believed for their own consumption. This is illegal in this country.”

Fauzi said he and his wife, Datin Zaitun Evitania had visited the police station at the airport several times to meet with the two men.

“They are in good condition. My wife also brought food to them in the police lock-up,” he added.

Mohamad Safa and Kamarol Arifin arrived in Jakarta at 2pm on an AirAsia flight on March 29 from KL International Airport 2 (klia2).

The dispatch rider and a factory technician were reported missing in Jakarta on March 30.

They came to Jakarta to watch the concert of popular disc jockey Armin Van Buuren at Jakarta International Expo site, here.

Both did not contact their families since arriving in Jakarta and also did not check into the hotel room which they had booked.–BERNAMA
